5 Questions with Aubrey

Published by GG under Entertainment, Friends

As you already know if you’ve been reading my blogspot, my friend Aubrey Aquino is on the ESPN show Beg, Borrow, and Deal. Every Tuesday, if Aubrey and I can hook up via e-mail, I will send Aubrey a list with 5 questions (my wife will ask one and I’ll ask four), and she will answer and then I will post them.

On the show last night, Aubrey’s team, Team Contact actually looked like a team and although they are still down, they made great progress. Team Contact conquered two new tasks. One of the tasks was to ride on a bus with a major/minor league baseball team, and hilariously, they beat that task. The reason I say hilariously is because the coaches pulled a nice joke on poor Katie, one of Aubrey’s teammates. They told Katie that they needed her to bring them the curve balls and she needed to find the key to the batter’s box. She went on her search and found what they needed and it was all in good fun when she figured out they were playing with her. Team Contact also took pictures with a gold medalist, a female soccer player.

Team Cobi stretched their lead out as they sang the National Anthem at a sporting event and also Juliet was able to throw the first pitch out at a professional baseball game.

The questions are in bold, and Aubrey’s answers follow.

1. Do you think your “realistic” attitude about the game has helped you or hurt you thus far with your team?

I think my attitude has helped my team in terms of getting tasks done. It may not jive with how my teammates see things, but if I didn’t have the grounded, realistic attitude to offer my team…who knows where we’d be! I really can’t help it…I’m not used to losing and all I want is to win, that’s why I signed up, so I can’t celebrate after one completed task..because until we’re on Alcatraz Island in Al Capone’s cell, I see no reason to celebrate!

2. Now that you’re watching the game and seeing Team Cobi for the first time, how do you perceive Josh as a player?

I think Josh is a very good player. He has a good understanding for the rules and how to make things happen. His organized and thoughful approach has really aided his team, despite the fact he has little to no sports knowledge!

3. Team Cobi seems to be using their female members’ sexuality to their advantage. Did your team ever think of using you or Katie like that to your advantage?

My team never really thought of using the female members’ sexuality to our advantage, although I do recall Katie saying on the first day that she would show her boobs if that’s what it took to get a favor..but
after that..it never really came up again.

4. You’ve seen up close how hard it is to play a team game with different personalities. Do you think Juliet’s selfishness has hurt Team Cobi?

Compared to my team, I don’t think Juliet’s selfishness has really hurt her team. It may have irritated her teammates, but it was usually 3 against 1, so she may say how she feels or what she wants, but when it came down to it..she was outnumbered. Besides their team is stil up and they’ve been able to find success.

The Carol question.

5. You must be the oldest child because if Katie talked to me the way she talked to you, I would’ve socked her. How did you stay so calm thus far with her being such a bitch to you?

It was extremely difficult to bite my tongue and keep my cool with my teammates. The reason I did it though was because I felt like creating more animosity or tension in the group would’ve hurt us more than
helped us. I wasn’t there to be anyone’s best friend, so I wasn’t going to let Katie’s distorted opinion of me hurt my chances of winning. It was hard though. I’m not used to people disrespecting me the way she did. I guess my friends just have a little more consideration for people and when to stop before going too far. Trust me, I would’ve socked her if I could, but that’s why you get the other extreme of my emotions (i.e. crying). How else could I deal with her and all the stress and frustration created? Besides, I am confident with who I am and all that really matter is that my true friends and family know the real deal!

Next week, I’ll ask her another 5 questions. Remember, BBD is on every Tuesday at 5PM PST and 8PM EST.
