April, 2008 Archives

It was her time. It was simply her time. Ramiele couldn’t bring it week after week and Eddy Zucko’s 500 votes every Tuesday night couldn’t save her last week. So long Ramiele.

My guest judges tonight are my cousin Nini and my mom. Cousin Tomiko and my sister were here, but they left.

(We were having a committee meeting for the 2008 Nakamoto Walk Or Run For Fun, which is why we are all together. That is the race in which I defeat the horrible Eddy Zucko.)

The Hot List (based on last week’s performances)

1. David Cook – He’s been money every week.
2. Carly Smithson – I can’t tell if people love her or hate her. I love her.
3. David Archuleta – Is it me, or is Big Dave a little repetitive?
4. Michael Johns – He went from my most hated list to the top 4 pretty quickly eh?
5. Brooke White – Curly or straight tonight?
6. Jason Castro’s Dread Locks – He bores me.
7. Syesha Mercado – She has grapefruits.
8. Kristy Lee Cook – Who knew this year’s Sanajaya would be a blond girl?

The Departed

1. Young David Hernandez
2. Young Amanda Overmyer
3. Young Chikezie
4. Young Ramiele Malubay

Ryno is back and he talks about Idol Gives Back tomorrow night. They are going to have that show tomorrow night and the kick-off show on Thursday.

The video of the contract signing will be up sometime this week. Yeah~!

When we last left your heroes, they were ready to depart from Cancun after enjoying their fabulous vacation. But an evil bad guy named Mexicana Airlines screwed everything up. That’s where we pick up our story.

I think Mexicana must mean terrible in English, because that’s the only way I can explain how we didn’t get on our second flight after leaving Cancun.

Sunday morning was very chill. After our nightly outing at the “discoteca”, it had to be. There was one thing I forgot to mention about Saturday night. Since HJ and Young Randall didn’t stay at the same resort that we did, they had to buy a day pass in order to visit and hang out at the resort. This day pass turned back into a pumpkin at midnight. Late that night, a short dark man came over to Young Randall and wanted to speak to him. For a second, I thought Young Randall was on that stuff and was buying his nightly medicine. But then I saw this short dark man give Young Randall some bad news. I asked HJ if the old guy was brow beating Young Randall because it was time to leave and she thought that might be the case. When we saw that upside down smile on Young Randall we knew it was exactly the case. Young Randall and HJ were getting kicked out of the resort. And all I could do was wave bye-bye while I was doing the Harlem Shake. Actually, I left with them.

I posted in late January about the rumored New Kids On The Block comeback.

And now, some 2 months later, CNN.com says it’s official.

Looks like they’re going the grown ass man route. Donny’s 38?

I have a beef with America right now. David Cook performs Chris Cornell’s version of Billie Jean and the judges call it original and he gets heat for it? I don’t get it. Aren’t all these performances covers? Wasn’t Ruben Studdard’s Superstar just a cover of Luther’s version of the Carpenters’ track? What is the difference? Is it just because the American Idol audience didn’t really know the Cornell song? Well, guess what? I knew of the song, but I’d never heard it before, and I’d call Billie Jean one of my favorite songs of all time. I’m going to guess that at least 95% of the audience had never heard of the Cornell version.

I don’t have as much of a beef with Chikezie leaving because he wasn’t going to win anyway. But what’s up with Syesha being in the bottom three after such a great performance? As it is, Kristy Lee Cook is a lucky dog. Maybe she should come out in her MMA gear and sing. That would be far more interesting.

My guest judge tonight is Shantel who is a big Idol fan and one of my most frequent commenters on these posts.

The Hot List (based on last week’s performances)

1. David Cook – He’s the front runner.
2. Carly Smithson – Quit talking about bathroom humor and you’ll be ok.
3. David Archuleta – Big Dave is back in the game.
4. Brooke White – Curly or straight tonight?
5. Michael Johns – It doesn’t take long to get on my good side.
6. Jason Castro’s Dread Locks – Which way did he go, which way did he go?
7. Syesha Mercado – I’m going to be sad when she gets kicked out.
8. Ramiele Malubay – Stop being so sad and show some confidence.
9. Kristy Lee Cook – Playing with house money.

The Departed

1. Young David Hernandez
2. Young Amanda Overmyer
3. Young Chikezie

Tonight, it’s Dolly Parton night. I’m not sure why Dolly Parton is on this show in the year 2008, but oh well. And Shantel says she’s been dreading this one. That’s not a good sign.

Yes, I know, I’m about 7 days late with this thing. But I was in Cancun and television doesn’t work the same way. Better late than never eh? I don’t know anything that happened on last Tuesday or Wednesday and the only one who tried to spoil it was Hea Jin. I barely avoided her attempt to become the ruiner.

But I’ll be quick. I don’t have a guest because Cesar from Cancun doesn’t watch the show. He only watches Latin American Idol, so we wouldn’t have been on the same page. And we’re saving Lionel Richie for the finale.

The Hot List (based on last week’s performances)

1. David Cook – I’m flip flopping David and Carly only because she was in the bottom three last week.
2. Carly Smithson – Still the best singer, but some people don’t like the tattoos.
3. David Archuleta – Don’t call it a comeback, he’s been here for, um, weeks.
4. Brooke White – Likability pushes her ahead of Chikezie.
5. Chikezie – Still the most entertaining performer on the show.
6. Jason Castro’s Dread Locks – The longer he stays on, the Sanjaya factor will start hurting him.
7. Syesha Mercado – I think that slowly but surely, she’s going to pick up some votes.
8. Ramiele Malubay – Unlike Brenda K. Starr, I not sure believe any more.
9. Michael Johns – He’s starting to annoy me.
10. Kristy Lee Cook – Deer in headlights.

The Departed

1. Young David Hernandez
2. Young Amanda Overmyer
