A funny thing happened as I was blogging this show during its DirecTV “preseason” run. Carol decided to stop the DirecTV service. She decided to get cable again, and my ability to watch this show was gone. I had to wait until the NBC run. And finally, we’re caught up and I can watch again.

- It sure is great to see Lyla Garrity again.

- After the house is finally finished being renovated, Street wants to sell the house without a realtor. And he calls Riggins dumb.

- One of the starting players on the football team set a girl’s hair on fire in the classroom. How wacky is that?

My friend Aubrey Aquino has a new web show called On The Flipside. It’s a show about sports, celebrities, and lifestyle entertainment. She just finished her second show. I’ll let her describe the episode.

Direct from the desert – Phoenix, AZ – for the 2009 NBA All Star weekend…it’s another edition of On The Flipside.

This time around, we’ve got All Star highlights from the House of Hennessy and the National Basketball Player’s Association (NBPA) Gala. Jadakiss, Akon, Fabolous, Keith Robinson, Dominique Wilkins, Jason Kapono, Adonal Foyle, Chamillionaire and more!

Then it’s off to the Bahamas for Michael Jordan’s Celebrity Invitational with MJ, Samuel L. Jackson, John Elway, Gabrielle Union, Josh Duhamel, Fergie and friends. We’re also getting the word from MJ about his new line of Jordans for 2009!

We’ve got Snoop Dogg and company. Check out the Doggfather as he coaches his SoCal team against some Florida boys in Tampa for Snoop Bowl VII! Mike Alstott, Bun B, Kurupt, Troy Smith and Michael Clayton all make appearances.
And we’ve gotta have the “Sideline Distraction”… it’s down to the wire as these ladies try to dance their way into a spot on the Florida Marlins Mermaids!

I have decided to do a podcast. About 4 years ago, before this medium really took off, I dabbled in doing a wrestling podcast called Wrestlecast. I think I might’ve reached double digits, but I lost interest. (Big D, my only listener, says I reached show number seven.)

But I’m back. I’m mostly here to get better at doing it since I’m doing SonicClash Radio with Money Mike. And I really suck as a host. So this is practice. These will be very short and mostly be just things off the top of my head.

Here’s the first episode. I talked about my hatred for the Baja Fresh in Foster City, the Oscars, and the one idea that I had to do The Biggest Loser before The Biggest Loser did The Biggest Loser.

I promised 10 minutes, went about 7 minutes over that, and I kept myself under 100 “ums”. All in all, very much a first episode of anything.

Right click to download.

I shuffled the iPod on my way to work and these were the first three songs to come up. It’s like the Will Clark, Matt Williams, Barry Bonds 3-4-5 spot in the Giants’ lineup from 1993.

Ok, maybe it’s not quite the three song terror that I am making it out to be, but I was still rockin’ with them all with roses in my hands. I think the only thing that would’ve made it sweeter would’ve been if R. Kelly’s Feelin’ On Yo Booty or Stevie B’s In My Eyes would’ve came next. Sadly, they didn’t.

Yesterday afternoon, those of us who were so lucky, attended the wedding of HJ and Young Randall. For those blog readers who don’t know HJ and Young Randall personally, you might’ve already thought they were married since I’ve been blogging about them for so long.

Many of you probably don’t even remember when HJ and Young Randall were playing Naked Twister with Dave Meltzer. But that just shows you how long I’ve been blogging about them. Many of you don’t even know Young Randall’s name is really Randy and his birth certificate doesn’t even say Randall. That’s how long they’ve been in my life. In fact, they’ve been around for almost as long as my kids have been around.

This is a little hard to write because there’s no way I could do this justice in words, based on the feelings and emotions inside of me right now. To make a long story short, the girl I dated for 18 months (I’ll still save her name here just in case, but most of you know already) and I went on a break in the late summer and with those kinds of things, it’s not always certain that it was going to work. The idea was to fix some personal things and then come back stronger than ever.

(And if you knew the story and knew the intricacies around both of our lives, doing this would make a bit more sense. It probably doesn’t make much sense now.)

In a perfect world, it can happen. In a world where everything isn’t sunshine and rainbows, it doesn’t always happen. Unfortunately (and maybe predictably), it didn’t work out. And while I was ok with the idea that we weren’t going to be together anymore, there was still something incomplete about the entire thing. It was one of those here today, gone tomorrow kind of things. Especially in a long distance relationship, which is what we had, it’s hard to solve every issue, or at least tackle every issue together. Thus, you do many things that are two person jobs, by yourself, or only with some guidance. But alas, you can’t resolve them fully together. Whether it’s looking into her eyes or grabbing her hand softly which can mean, “It’s going to be ok,” much more than saying those words can mean, the absence of that is very visible to me now. It wasn’t that I overlooked it then, but it was just that I knew what the deal was and looked forward to where it was supposed to go.

There are really two artists right now that are making music that touches me today. One is Ne-Yo whose last album, Year Of The Gentlemen was probably the one album I’ve identified most with in the past five years. The other is Elliot Yamin. Yep, that same guy who was on American Idol. His self-titled debut was an excellent introduction to his soulful pop style. I bought it on iTunes and then Money Mike met Elliot and got me a signed copy of the album that sits in my living room.

Elliot’s lead single from his new album is called Fight For Love. Check it out. I don’t really like the arrangement, but the vocals are on point.

It’s also on Popeater.com.

I have been fairly happy with the last two shows. Even though the story lines still go a mile a minute, at least the stories have been more smartly written. I think we need one or two really long story arcs that are interesting and stretch out maybe until the end of the year. If they want to keep the other choppy story lines where it’s here today and gone tomorrow, fine. But just give us a couple of long and lasting ones that mean something.

As you can tell from last week, I’m all for Julie from Friday Night Lights joining the cast.

- Silver is all about her man Dixon. She’s now obsessed.

- Ethan is spending so much time with Julie from FNL that Annie thinks she should drive into a tree to get as much sympathy. Jeez.

- Naveed just threw poor Adrianna under the bus, when just a couple weeks ago, he was all about him some Adrianna.

- This is what I’m talking about. Last week, we saw that Julie from FNL was lying about her injuries. And not 5 minutes into this week, she comes clean with Ethan. According to these writers, you tell a story by having a beginning and an end. There is no middle.

- Wait, Julie from FNL’s name is Rhonda? I must’ve forgotten and that must be a joke.

- Silver tried to pull a Steve Sanders and slip the restaurant host some money so that she could book a table for her Valentine’s Day dinner with Dixon. But rather than the Steve Sanders benjamin, she tried to slip him ten bucks.

90210 Episode 14 – He Dead?

February 4th, 2009 Permalink

Before we get to the latest episode, there is actual evidence that Tori Spelling is indeed coming back to the show.

Since it doesn’t look like Brian Austin Green is coming back anytime soon, maybe they can bring back Jamie Walters (aka Ray Pruitt) so he can apologize one more time and get people off his back for pushing Donna down the stairs. He should’ve just told her to hold on.

Alright, where we last left our wannabe heroes, Adrianna needed to tell Tai that the baby was his, Ethan might be dead, and Dixon dumped Silver.

- In the first 30 seconds, we see Ethan walk out towards Annie. He’s fine. So much for a cliff hanger. I guess the person he hit is in surgery.
