As promised, we’re back to talk NBA basketball.

This time Albert, JJ Mags, and Young Randall couldn’t make it, so who was to join Eddy Zucko and me? Well, none other than the editor of Warriorsworld.net, my man Rasheed.

Sheed came on to discuss the latest in the NBA trades before the trade deadline such as Antawn Jamison to the Cavs, the Warriors in detail (specifically Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry), and who the best bets are come playoff time.

It was a fun 3-man weave.

Triple-Double

February 11th, 2010 Permalink

A usual Wednesday night is the busiest night of the week for me because I work in the morning and afternoon, then get the kids and help them with their homework and then make dinner, put them to bed, and then work again until very early the next morning. I also try to work in spots in between of all that.

But our current Wednesdays also feature baseball practice and piano practice thus further busying our day. Yesterday, after picking up the kids from school, we raced home to put on their baseball gear, raced to the practice field and went through a near two-hour practice. From there, they changed shoes and went to 45 minutes of piano while I picked up dinner. Then we got home, ate dinner, relaxed a bit and it was homework time. If this were the NBA, JJ and Brian would’ve posted triple-doubles on the stat sheet.

JJ had more homework than normal, but Brian didn’t have much at all. JJ was also already tired and I could tell that it was possible that we were going to have a long night. But I have to hand it to him. He didn’t really break down until the very end, but I used some psychology to help him get through it. Brian was already done and reading so he didn’t care. It was 9:15PM and they should’ve been in bed if not for our late night. Brian showered while JJ was finishing up his homework and I decided to make a deal with JJ. I told him that his favorite basketball player Stephen Curry was having the game of his life (I found this out while browsing my Twitter feed) and if he finished his homework and then quickly took his shower, he’d be able to stay up for an extra ten minutes to watch Curry finish the game.

When my buddy GB told me that he was going to be live blogging the Grammys tonight for SonicClash, it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. He’s on the East Coast and he was going to be able to see it and blog it live and that left me with the option of not having to blog it, or even just bailing out on the show altogether. But then, I felt a tug on my heart. My little old home blog screamed out. It said that the home blog was home to several Grammys blogs before SonicClash was even a twinkle in GB’s eye.

Several years ago when writing the Grammys’ blog, I used to joke that the show was so long that I’d have to constantly fuel up with coffee just to keep up with the show. That’s no different here, but for now, I’m staying away from the coffee. I’m going with crystal-lite and rock star energy drink right now. Let’s see if I need to move onto coffee after a couple of hours.

(GB’s three-post opus is here, here, and here.)

The show starts at 8:00PM sharp and away we go.

8:01: Lady GaGa’s camel toe is opening up the show by singing Poker Face. Thank God for whoever created waxing.

8:03: GaGa and professional Grammys’ collaborator Elton John perform a duet with leaky eye black over their faces. Just watching GaGa sometimes makes you want to immediately take a shower.

8:07: Stephen Colbert tries to do stand-up and dies before a live audience. RIP.

8:12: Song of the year goes to a song with these lyrics, “Up in the club, we just broke up, I’m doing my own little thing/You decided to dip but now you wanna trip, cuz another brother noticed me.” If you guessed Beyonce’s Single Ladies, you are a winner. It might be the first time song writers won an award for a song that had the words, dip and trip rhymed together.

8:14: Green Day goes Broadway. I didn’t think I’d have to go make a sandwich so early in this Grammys.
