A usual Wednesday night is the busiest night of the week for me because I work in the morning and afternoon, then get the kids and help them with their homework and then make dinner, put them to bed, and then work again until very early the next morning. I also try to work in spots in between of all that.
But our current Wednesdays also feature baseball practice and piano practice thus further busying our day. Yesterday, after picking up the kids from school, we raced home to put on their baseball gear, raced to the practice field and went through a near two-hour practice. From there, they changed shoes and went to 45 minutes of piano while I picked up dinner. Then we got home, ate dinner, relaxed a bit and it was homework time. If this were the NBA, JJ and Brian would’ve posted triple-doubles on the stat sheet.
JJ had more homework than normal, but Brian didn’t have much at all. JJ was also already tired and I could tell that it was possible that we were going to have a long night. But I have to hand it to him. He didn’t really break down until the very end, but I used some psychology to help him get through it. Brian was already done and reading so he didn’t care. It was 9:15PM and they should’ve been in bed if not for our late night. Brian showered while JJ was finishing up his homework and I decided to make a deal with JJ. I told him that his favorite basketball player Stephen Curry was having the game of his life (I found this out while browsing my Twitter feed) and if he finished his homework and then quickly took his shower, he’d be able to stay up for an extra ten minutes to watch Curry finish the game.
